Deciding where to book a vacation can be an overwhelming experience - and with endless feedback available online, the positives and negatives of almost any destination in the world are thoroughly documented.

While some hotspots warrant less than complimentary feedback, other wonders of the world leave visitors genuinely speechless.

There are a whole host of popular locations that regularly surprise even the biggest cynics who concede that it is worth battling the crowds to take a trip to the world-renowned sites.

Recently, a slew of passionate travelers took to Reddit to share the places they deem worthy of seeing - some loving the locations so much that they are desperate to go back.

The recommendations range from natural wonders to man-made marvels.

Here, the Daily Mail has rounded up the top travel choices worth the hype.

The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is a mile-deep canyon that stretches for 277 miles in Arizona, boasting some of the world's most breathtaking rock formations.

Scientists estimate the geological wonder may have formed between five and six million years ago when the Colorado River began to cut a channel through layers of rock.

The canyon is known for its stunning, natural beauty and draws in crowds with its incredible hiking and camping opportunities.

The breathtaking natural wonder is a UNESCO World Heritage site that sees over four million visitors every year, many of whom would strongly recommend a visit.

'You think, "oh haha a big hole in the ground" and for all intents and purposes, sure that's what it is. But you have to see it in person to get why people rave about the experience,' one user wrote.
Another agreed, writing: 'Yup, I arrived there and I went "wow it really is good."'

Banff

Banff is a resort town in the province of Alberta, Canada, located within Banff National Park.

The stunning area was Canada's first national park, with the jaw-dropping Rockies in the background and gorgeous turquoise lakes, such as Lake Louise and Lake Moraine, nestled within.

The park is an adventure lover's dream due to its year-round outdoor activities like hiking and skiing - attracting four million visitors annually.

'I had the opportunity to visit Banff for a day... One day was not enough. I needed much more time to see everything, including the lakes... I definitely need to go back,' one user declared.
'The three national parks (Jasper, Banff, Yoho) around there feel like a cheat code for natural beauty,' agreed another.
Another chimed in: 'Lake Louise in Banff, Alberta. It really is as beautiful as the Instagram influencers make it out to be.'

The Swiss Alps

The Swiss Alps cover a staggering 65 percent of Switzerland's surface area.

Even though only 15 percent of the Alps are actually within Switzerland, the Swiss Alps boast almost all of the highest mountains in the range.

One avid traveler declared: 'Truly otherworldly. It looks like CGI and your brain has a hard time computing that what you're looking at is real.'
'Went to Switzerland the other year and damn, do I want to go back. Definitely ticked off some of my bucket list on that trip!' wrote someone else.

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is a world-renowned group of three massive waterfalls located on the border of America and Canada.

The vertical height is over 176 feet in places and, at its peak flow, over 700,000 gallons of water per second pour over the Horseshoe, American and Bridal Veil waterfalls.

The natural landmark attracts between 12 million and 14 million visitors annually.

'I was flying to Alberta, and decided to fly up there one day early and fly into Toronto to see Niagara. It was a two-hour flight, and then a three-hour drive (it should have been half that, but traffic sucked). It was worth it,' one person shared.
'The falls truly took my breath away.'
'I spent the rest of the day just watching them and doing stuff around the falls.'
'The light show they did at night was truly amazing.'
'The tourist boat at Niagara Falls that takes you right up to the waterfall (I think there's one on each side of the border) was way better than I expected.'
'I've been to a bunch of natural wonders around the world that do get more social media hype.'
'Walking around Niagara Falls was pretty cool, but going to the base of the falls in a boat was one of the more memorable things I've ever done,' gushed another.

The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is one of the world's greatest man-made marvels.

The 13,171-mile-long wall took 2,000 years to build, with construction spanning continuously from the 3rd century BC to the 17th century AD.

The impressive structure sits along the northern border of the country, constructed as a military defense project of successive Chinese Empires.

'Others may disagree, but I was overwhelmed at The Great Wall. As a kid growing up in the States, I'd always heard of The Great Wall of China, but could never imagine myself seeing such an exotic location,' wrote a traveler. 'So then when I was standing on it... it felt like I had accomplished something as difficult as going to the moon.'
Another person agreed, writing: 'Finally, being in the main pit at Xi'An was breathtaking. The amount of work and human sacrifice represented is overwhelming to contemplate.'
'It is definitely not overrated,' said someone else.

Santorini

Santorini is one of the most famous Greek islands, known for its picturesque waters and stunning landscapes.

The island is known for its white-and-blue cliffside villages, stunning sunsets and unique volcanic beaches, made up of black or red sand and pebbles.

While some people deem the island overrun with tourists, some Reddit users insist it is a must-visit.

'You see so many pictures online that make the place look like a postcard picture place but seeing it in person was a surreal experience,' one visitor commented.
Another agreed, writing: 'It looks even better live than on photos and videos.'

Paris

France's capital, known as the City of Light, is worth the hype, according to many Reddit users

'The Eiffel Tower is actually pretty great if you can go in the off-season. I've been twice and both times walked right in after a less than five-minute wait. I'm sure summer crowds make it miserable, but I wouldn't know,' one Parisian lover said.

'Eiffel Tower. It's a symbol everyone knows, including from social media,' commented another.

Someone else added in: 'Paris at night by the Seine really hits like the photos.'
