Olyphant and Dager share the screen with the likes of Owen Wilson and Marc Maron on the AppleTV+ series.

Timothy Olyphant had what seemed to be a brief memory lapse while talking about his young Stick costar, Peter Dager. However, he turned the forgetful moment into a funny joke.

During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday, July 16, the 57-year-old actor took turns praising his costars on the AppleTV+ series, including Owen Wilson and Marc Maron.

However, when it was time to discuss Dager, who plays 17-year-old golf prodigy Santi, the Alien: Earth star appeared to forget the actor's name. "And then there's a kid who plays the young..." Olyphant said before stuttering out, prompting host Seth Meyers to ask, "You don't want to say his name?"

Olyphant continued, doubling down on not naming Dager, 22, while explaining that it was to allow the young star to find stardom without any help.

"Not because I can't remember his name right now, but I think it's important for a young actor to just be, like, for a while, just be like, you know, 'He's the kid on the golf show,' " he said, prompting Meyers, 51, to say that they had to "make their own name."

The Deadwood star continued urging everyone else to follow in his footsteps: "I think we should all decide as a group, fans of the show, that when we talk about the show to our friends, we say, 'Oh.' Then do it like this and be like, 'Oh, and then Owen Wilson and Marc Maron, they go over to talk to the kid. You know, this kid.' You see what I'm saying?"

"Let's all agree that that's who he is for now," he said, adding, "We're all in on this together. Because he's really... He's a lovely kid. Pete... Peter."

Olyphant also praised the rest of the cast, saying that they were "great." He described Mariana Treviño and Lilli Kay as "amazing" and listed Judy Greer as "the national treasure."

"Owen's a gem. I'm just a huge Owen Wilson fan," he gushed about his costar. "His work... He's incredible. And then he's just lovely. What a lovely guy."

While talking about Maron, 61, Olyphant recalled a funny interaction that the podcaster and actor had when it was time to meet one of the episode's directors, John Hamburg. "Usually, even if I don't know who that director is, I'm going to go over and do what I did," Olyphant said. "I'm going to say, 'Nice, such a pleasure. Big fan of your work, and I hear just lovely things about you.' "

With Hamburg, Olyphant did not have to fake excitement because he was genuinely a fan of his work on projects such as Meet the Parents and Zoolander. The actor continued, "While this little Hollywood b------ exchange is happening -- niceties -- Marc Maron [is] walking off the set."

But when Maron was also introduced, he only stopped for a passing handshake before continuing on his way. "Can I tell you, that's when I fell in love with Marc Maron. That moment. I was so happy I was there for that," the actor said.
