A transgender doctor embroiled in a fiery row over sharing women's-only changing rooms has left the NHS.
Dr Beth Upton, a biological male who identifies as a woman, was taken to a tribunal alongside NHS Fife by nurse Sandie Peggie after she complained she was uncomfortable sharing a dressing room at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
Ms Peggie, 56, a nurse of 30 years, was suspended from her A&E unit after the transgender doctor made a complaint against her at the beginning of 2024.
But she later won a landmark battle against NHS Fife who were found to have harassed her in what was hailed as a victory for women's rights.
The health board admitted that it spent more than £400,000 on legal fees on the case.
Dr Upton left the health service at the end of 2025, NHS Fife confirmed.
A spokesperson said: 'As this is a personal employment matter, we will be making no further comment.'
Dr Upton may have left the UK for Australia, it has been claimed.

A hospital insider told The Sun: 'Staff at the hospital found out he had left and that he was thinking of heading to Australia.
'Whether that's for a break or to work there, no one knows.
'But the health board in Fife has spent a fortune in taxpayers' cash defending themselves and him in the tribunal -- and he's not even an employee any more.'
Susan Smith, director of campaign group For Women Scotland, said it would be 'a relief to female patients'.
'What came out at the tribunal was that Dr Upton said if a patient requested a female doctor, he would be quite happy to go and treat them.
'This is someone who put ideology ahead of the welfare of colleagues and patients.
'I'm not sure someone like that should have a place in the NHS.'
Ms Peggie was suspended in January 2024 after Dr Upton made an allegation of bullying and harassment.
Ms Peggie said she was 'beyond relieved' after Employment Judge Sandy Kemp found NHS Fife harassed her on four occasions.

She said: 'I am beyond relieved and delighted that the tribunal has found that my employer Fife Health Board harassed me after I complained about having to share a female only changing room with a male colleague.
'The last two years have been agonising for me and my family.'
While Mrs Peggie won part of her complaint against the health board, several claims were dismissed.
In a written judgment the harassment claim was upheld but allegations of discrimination, indirect discrimination and victimisation were dismissed.
