On the other line is a man claiming he's badly hurt, and in desperate need of refuge in their 'idyllic' safe house in Berlin.
But the former intelligence officers soon grow suspicious when the man arrives, and they notice his wounds appear to have been self-inflicted.
He's soon acting strangely, forcing the duo to have to investigate his background - revealing he was sent by a high-ranking Russian military officer.
The official Netflix synopsis detailed: 'That mission set them on their current path, and has defined their family's life ever since - whether all of them are aware of it or not.'
'When new details emerge, Nina realises just how many skeletons are in her parents' closet, and Meret uncovers Simon's greatest betrayal.'
'Can the couple grapple with their past to save their family's future? Or will their secrets be their undoing?'
Netflix's Tudum teased: 'With their cover blown, they're forced to contend with their past choices and the lies they've told their loved ones -- and each other.'
