Virginia (10-2) was ranked 16th and James Madison (11-1) 19th in the Associated Press and coaches' polls to close the regular season.
The Cavaliers moved up one spot in both surveys released Sunday, while JMU climbed one in the AP poll and two in the coaches' poll. The Dukes are the top-rated Group of Five team.
COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER
The NCAA Tournament is down to four teams after the weekend quarterfinals, and three are from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The quartet will head to CPKC Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, for the College Cup.
Stanford is the only one of the four No. 1 seeds remaining, winning its quarterfinal 5-1 against Michigan State.
At 8:45 p.m. Friday on ESPNU, the Cardinal will take on fellow ACC team Duke, a No. 2 seed that shut out No. 4 Washington 3-0.
The first semifinal Friday, at 6 on ESPNU, will pit third-seeded Florida State against No. 2 TCU, the only non-ACC squad left. FSU beat Ohio State 4-1, and TCU defeated top-seeded Vanderbilt 2-1 in overtime.
COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER
In the NCAA Tournament's round of 16, 15th-seeded North Carolina State defeated UNC Greensboro 2-0 Sunday night. The Spartans had bounced No. 2-seeded Virginia in penalty kicks in the previous round.
Also, 14th-seeded Akron knocked off Duke 2-0 Sunday.
Coastal Athletic Association champ Hofstra fell 5-4 in penalty kicks at 16th-seeded Furman after a 3-3 standoff. CAA Player of the Year Laurie Goddard scored two of Hofstra's regulation goals.
No. 4 Maryland, No. 7 Georgetown, No. 8 Portland and Saint Louis are among the other teams that advanced to the quarterfinals.
COLLEGE WRESTLING
Virginia (3-2) shut out Bloomsburg 41-0 Saturday night in Pennsylvania, posting three pins against the homestanding Huskies (3-4).
Gable Porter, ranked 32nd nationally at 141 pounds, improved to 5-0 in dual action and 9-1 this season by pinning Tristan Corbin in 2:14. Wynton Denkins pinned Dustin Elliott in 2:17 at 149 pounds, and heavyweight Ryan Catka made his season debut and picked up a win by fall in 3:15 to close the match.
Nick Hamilton, ranked 18th at 174, scored a 12-7 decision over Eric Alderfer to raise his dual record to 4-0.
Among UVA's other ranked wrestlers, No. 24 Keyveon Roller won 7-3 over Jace Schafer at 125, and No. 26 Colton Washleski decisioned William Morrow 8-2 at 157.
Also winning for UVA were Kyle Montaperto (an 18-0 technical fall at 133), Michael Murphy (5-3 at 165), Griffin Gammell (10-6 at 184) and Steven Burrell Jr. (8-1 at 197).
The Cavaliers will return to Pennsylvania for a pair of duals next Sunday in East Stroudsburg. They will wrestle Bridgeport at 12:30 p.m. and East Stroudsburg at 2.
