Valerie Bertinelli is looking back at the breast augmentation she had in her late 20s.
As she prepares to publish her memoir Getting Naked, the 65-year-old former Food Network star chatted with People magazine.
In the pages of her book she discusses getting a boob job in the late '80s and having them removed in 2024.
'I liked it for a little while and then started to hate it,' she told the outlet. 'At a certain point, I had gained and lost so much weight that my boobs were just... I felt like they were down to my belly button. I was like, "I just want my small boobs back."'
Bertinelli had the implants removed, but she later developed a grave infection, requiring follow-up surgery.
'The look on my doctor's face when he finally saw me made me think, oh st, I guess I should have come in earlier. And he took everything out [the implant and the surrounding tissues] and then my breast became infected and started to cave in on itself. It became a crater,' she recalled.

'I have to have one more surgery to even them out,' she noted about the ongoing ordeal.
Referencing her cats, she added, 'Me and these guys are the only ones looking at my boobs anyways, but I don't care because I can't see without my glasses on... I'll have to date somebody who can't see.'
'Anyway those were my boobs. Anybody want to date me? It was so serious I just had to find the humor in it,' she joked.

The media personality debuted a romance with writer Mike Goodnough in early 2024, but by November the pair split.
In a December 2024 Instagram photo, Bertineli posed wearing a black bra and underwear in a mirror selfie.
She captioned, 'At some point I will talk about the madness my body has been through this year.'
'But right now every lump bump wrinkle and saggy part of me just feels acceptance and simple appreciation to be standing in front of a mirror in a hotel bathroom in downtown Manhattan ready to color my roots late on a Monday night.'
In anticipation of her book release, she said online in November: 'It may feel like a scary experience letting it all hang out, physically and emotionally, for everyone to see (and judge) But for me, that's the point.'

Her candid book of candid essays hits stands on March 10
She announced her upcoming book, titled Getting Naked: The Quiet Work of Becoming Perfectly Imperfect, in early October.
'This is my heart broken wide open. It's a collection of intimate and vulnerable essays, exploring aging, love, friendship, secrets, and acceptance,' Valerie captioned a post as she shared the black and white cover image for the first time.
'I am super excited and delighted (and maybe a tinge nervous) to show you all the cover of my new book, GETTING NAKED,' she prefaced.
She went on to share,'I didn't even realize how much I needed to write this book until I started. It helped heal something in me that l'm not sure I would've been able to do without writing it.'
'My hope and deep wish is that it will inspire you to resist the negative thoughts in your own head, put yourself first, and let go of any judgement you may feel about yourself or what others may try their damnedest to make you feel.'
The literary work hits stands on March 10.
