AFL WAG Kellie Finlayson has issued a desperate plea to her medical team amid the New South Wales doctor's strike.

Thousands of public hospital doctors across NSW walked off the job on Tuesday, as part of a three-day strike over pay and working conditions.

Kellie, the wife of Port Adelaide star Jeremy Finlayson, is currently fighting stage 4 bowel and lung cancer.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the 28-year-old said that while concerned about the consequences of such a strike in her state, she understood the need for the action.

'I absolutely believe our medical staff deserve better work conditions including an increase in their pay,' she wrote.
'The treatment might be the medicine, but the staff are just as live saving!!'

AFL WAG Kellie Finlayson, who is battling cancer, has issued a plea to her medical team amid the New South Wales doctor's strike.

'My distaste isn't with the medical staff striking. It's with the departments giving them no other option and continuing to discredit the work that they do.'

Kellie admitted that while she would be 'devastated' if her medical team were to go in strike, she would completely understand their motives.

'If my oncology team were to go on strike would I be devastated? Yes,' she added.
'Would my life be at risk? Potentially. But would I understand their reasonings? Absolutely.'

Kellie shared a second post that showed her looking at the camera, head in hand.

Captioning the image, Kellie praised her team while also issuing a heartfelt plea.

'PS, I know some of my medical team follow me on here. ily [I love you], appreciate you all so much,' she wrote.
'But also, never leave me stranded.'

It comes after Kellie delivered an update on her cancer battle having undergone surgery in recent weeks.

She revealed on Instagram, in March, that she had undergone thoracic surgery but appeared to be recovering well.

The young mum published a clip of herself lying in a hospital bed, writing: 'Me a week ago'.

In the next frame, Finlayson looked bright and well, sharing a brief clip of two scars on the left side of her rib cage following the surgery.

'Just over a week ago I was having a VATS wedge resection on my right lung to remove Mets and send off tissue to pathology in hope for more answers/better treatment plans,' Finlayson captioned the video.
'I’ve had soooo many people checking in to see how I’m doing, thank you!!!'

Kellie had confirmed the sad news last July that she would have to resume chemotherapy after her cancer had begun to grow again. It came after she had stopped chemo and radiation therapy for alternative treatments.

In a second post, Kellie praised her team while also issuing a heartfelt plea.

'PS, I know some of my medical team follow me on here. ily [I love you], appreciate you all so much,' she wrote.

Also in March, Kellie took to Instagram to conduct a Q&A with her followers.

Multiple fans wrote to express their admiration for the brave mum.

'You're amazing!' one wrote.
'Apologies if you have already mentioned it but what was your recent surgery for?'

Finlayson replied: 'Thank you,' with two 'teary-eyed' emojis.

'I had a VATS wedge resection on my right lung and removed five mets (metastatic tumours),' she replied.

VATS stands for Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery and is a form of keyhole surgery. A VATS resection involves the removal of a small piece of tissue from the lung.

Kellie revealed on Instagram in March that she had undergone thoracic surgery but appeared to be recovering well.

She was also asked about how she was recovering from the surgery, writing: 'I've actually surprised myself; I was so nervous for this one.'

Finlayson had experienced symptoms of discomfort in her stomach since she was 23. But after the birth of her daughter, her symptoms had persisted. She was subsequently diagnosed with the illness, which came as a shock, leaving her angry and confused.

Her story is truly inspiring; Finlayson is set to release a book this month titled There Must Be More.
