A couple have opened up about finding love on Blind Date at the very dawn of reality TV ahead of the show's reboot on Disney+.
The popular dating show hosted by the late Cilla Black was a hit when it aired between 1985 and 2003 and brought together many happy couples.
For those unfamiliar with the premise of Blind Date, it saw singletons get to know a series of potential dates from behind a screen.
Depending on their answers, they would get to choose who they'd most like to go on a date with - and then see each other for the first time on the show.
But when Sue and Alex Tatham appeared on the show back in 1988, they admitted that they never expected to find lasting love.
Alex said it was simply 'a very hot TV show at the time. So it'd be a bit like now, if someone's saying, who wants to be on Love Island?'

Blind Date has been thrust to the forefront of public consciousness as it's set to make a comeback on Disney+ where it will be 'reimagined for a contemporary audience' - needless to say, Cilla Black got an invite to Sue and Alex's 1991 wedding.
Sue added: 'It was exciting and that's why I really wanted to go, to see how it all was. Was it as glamorous as it looked? No!'

Opening up about the experience itself, the couple said that the producers went to extreme lengths to prevent them from seeing each other ahead of the show - with Sue being forced to dive into a cupboard to avoid Alex backstage.
While the pair were both attracted to the Love Island of its day, they said that the reality of Blind Date wasn't as glamorous as it initially appeared to be.
He joked: 'The sliding door, which looks very chic - it's basically a bloke at the back pulling a bit of cardboard.'
Opening up about why he picked Sue from his line-up of dates, Alex said he can't quite recall.
He said: 'When I picked Sue, number two from the West Midlands, I had absolutely no idea why I'd done that. It was just eenie meeny miny moe.'
However, fate was on the couple's side and they got on like a house on fire when they had their first date at a medieval banquet in Ireland.

The filming of the show was strict too, and despite the pair getting on well, they were told that they couldn't continue their date into the evening by the producers when they suggested going to a club.
There was also no space for any kind of sexual relations on this type of reality TV and they were kept five miles apart in separate hotels.
Alex said: 'I think these days, they basically film you getting in the same room! That just shows the big change in reality TV.'
Cilla famously used to say on the show 'Do I need to buy a new hat?' when it seemed like a couple was getting on well and in Sue and Alex's case, she very much had an excuse to splurge on a new accessory.
As the pair met on Blind Date, the show offered to host their wedding in 1991, which Alex admitted had its pros and cons. Alex said: 'Imagine if you're nervous about making a best man or a groom speech in front of 300 of your best friends. Then imagine making it in front of millions.
'It was an amazing day. It did allow us to invite just about everyone we've ever met to our wedding, which also helped.
'They wore the brightest clothes they could because you wanted to get your face on TV. It looked like a really good edition of Songs of Praise.'

Despite picking his now-wife unseen, Alex said she is 'still extremely beautiful' and praised Sue for being 'sensitive and kind, a wonderful mother' to their children Emily and Charlie.
Sue and Alex, who renewed their vows last year, have now been happily married for 34 years and Alex said that they were simply 'lucky' to have met.
He added: We found we had plenty in common. I think that when you grow together, as any couple will, you'll find that actually you begin to share a set of values.'
Sue said: 'Open honesty is the best thing. And be kind.'
'Once you have someone with a similar set of values, boyfriend or girlfriend, no matter how you meet, that's a really good basis for any relationship,' Alex admitted.

He said: 'Most people fall in love with her, so it wasn't hard for me. I am just lucky to have picked her.
'To this day, we say we love each other a lot to each other -and still do.'
Production on Disney+'s new Blind Date began this year but a release date has yet to be announced.
