Footage of plane passengers' reaction to being sat next to a man with a guide dog has sparked fury across social media.
Hamilton appeared infuriated by their reaction and volunteered to sit next to him instead, pointedly calling it "an honor" as the other passengers thanked her -- but then continued to complain anyway.
The video shows Jen introducing herself to the man, whose name was Ed Summers.
"Has that ever happened to you before?" she asked, adding, "Well, I'm excited to sit next to you."
In a voiceover, Hamilton then explains that Summers is an IT guy "whose entire life mission is to make the world more accessible to people with disabilities."
"So I would just like to take this time to personally thank those crusty, musty dingleberries for making a big deal out of something that wasn't a big deal, so that I got to hang out with literally the coolest guy ever," Hamilton said.
The video has now been viewed more than 4.5 million times.
In his own video, Summers -- who appeared to make his account specifically to address the situation -- said Hamilton did several things that showed "terrific allegiance" to people with disabilities.
First, Summers noted, Hamilton offered solutions "rather than taking control or making assumptions."
Second, Jen checked in with Summers himself, asking him specifically if she could sit next to him.
"That allowed me -- the target of the situation, the person with a disability -- to choose how the situation would play out going forward," Summers said.
"As the participant, that gives me agency instead of being pushed around by people who think they know what's best."
Summers also shared that his guide dog's name is Loki.
"I'll share more about Loki in the future as well," he promised.
Hamilton shared the video, sending her enormous following toward Summers' page.
"I'm so honored to have a friend in Ed," she added in a follow-up video, before joking that, actually, Ed wasn't a friend because he wasn't following her.
"I follow you," she quipped. "What the heck?"
As of Monday afternoon, Summers followed one account on TikTok: Hamilton.
Commenters applauded Hamilton’s reaction to the situation, with one writing, “Who else felt that FIRE in Jen’s aura when she said, ‘I’d be honored’?Jen, setting the example for everyone.”
Another added, “Instantly turning it into ‘an honor’ in that moment is amazing. Jen, you are so, so emotionally intelligent and kind, please don’t ever change.”
“No shade to other service animals, because they all serve their purpose, but seeing eye dogs are some of the highest level trained dogs,” a third commenter noted.
“They take their jobs extremely seriously and pose no threat to other animals/people. As someone who has a significant other who is blind, thank you for helping to settle the situation!”
