A huge 1990s popstar looked unrecognisable three decades after climbing the charts to the number one spot.

The Northern-Irish musician was part of an iconic pop group, who made headlines at the time with both their first two albums reaching the UK top five.

They stole the nation's hearts with bangers such as Things Can Only Get Better - which went to number 1 spot - and U R the Best Thing.

The singer now appears worlds away from his 90s look and appeared barely recognisable in recent pictures - but can you guess who it is?

It's D:Ream frontman Peter Cunnah, who gave fans a fresh update as he shared a new pic alongside entertainers Harry Enfield and Kathy Burke - aka Kevin and Perry.

Peter, 59, sported short grey hair and flashed a thumbs up while posing next to the comedians as they celebrated their 25th anniversary at a festival.

The shot was captioned: 'Kevin and Perry official celebrating their 25th Anniversary at the Hardwick festival ... Havin it LARGE!!!! ... raving and misbehaving with our fellow superstar...... lead singer Peter Cunnah from D:Ream. Sing it!!

'Things Can Only Get Better. Now I found you!!! All you wanna do is Do it. Euphoria!!!'

Peter has been frequently updating his followers on D:Ream's official page, with fellow band member Al Mackenzie.

Despite the years passing by, the duo are still rocking the stage together.

The band was originally composed of Peter, Al and keyboardist Brian Cox, who went on to enjoy a successful career as a television academic and physicist following his stint in the spotlight.

They boasted several top 40 hits including Shoot Me with Your Love, but it was their 1994 track Things Can Only Get Better that brought them on top of the charts.

D:Ream run for Best Dance Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards and for Best Single at the 1995 BRIT Awards in 1994.

The hit eventually resurfaced successfully when Tony Blair adopted it for his New Labour campaign following 18 years of Conservative governance.

At the time, Peter expressed mixed feelings about the hit to the Belfast Telegraph, saying: 'I've a love-hate relationship with that song now. It's been my meal ticket, for sure, but, you know, Tony Blair is basically a walking war criminal.
'I've had people say that my work is tainted as a result, that I'm somehow complicit, which I find very, very hurtful.'

He also opened up about the sorrows of his drink and drugs hell when he was at the peak of his fame, including a bizarre time when he thought he was Robbie Williams.
