Beauty aficionados have taken note of Aldi Australia's latest Special Buys range - and its striking resemblance to a hugely popular luxe beauty brand.
The budget supermarket chain is reintroducing its glow-enhancing Lacura Luminosity beauty range into its middle aisle as of February 28. Among the eight radiant skincare products are serums, moisturisers, lip balms and cleansers starting at just $7.99 each - with nothing over $10.
But it's not the rock-bottom price tag that has caught the attention of online beauty enthusiasts. Rather, it's the range's similarity to a much-loved, pricey Korean skincare brand.
Queensland shopper Anastasia was among those who highlighted the new Aldi range as an affordable alternative to the hugely popular Glow Recipe skincare brand.
'This looks oddly familiar to the Glow Recipe Tinted Hue Drops,' Anastasia said in a TikTok video.
Declaring herself a fan of the high-end beauty brand, Anastasia explained in the review video that she was keen to give the Aldi version 'a try'.
'I am genuinely curious to see what this is going to feel like and what the quality is going to be,' she added.
The two products she selected from the Lacura range were the Luminosity Highlighting Serum Tinted 40ml bottle ($9.99), and the Luminosity Hydrating Night Moisturiser 60ml jar ($9.99).
Queensland woman Anastasia posted a TikTok video where she highlighted the new Aldi Lacura Luminosity range as a potential dupe for a designer beauty brand
Anastasia trialled the Lacura Luminosity Hydrating Night Moisturiser 60ml, $9.99 in a post shared to her @anastasiab912 account - noting that it cotnained watermlon extract and a jelly-like texture
Korean skincare brand Glow Recipe is renowned for their signature watermelon extract infused jelly-like formulations, like their Watermelon Glow AHA Night Treatment 60ml $69 sold at Mecca
Starting out with the tinted serum, Anastasia couldn't help but exclaim that the 'packaging looks so similar', likely referring to the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Tinted Hue Drops, which are sold in a 15ml bottle at Mecca for $35.
'It's a very bronze-y colour,' she noted in her video posted to the @anastasiab912 account, smoothing the product onto the back of her hand and along her cheekbones.
'It definitely blends into the skin seamlessly. It feels nice,' she observed. 'It's definitely giving a little shine to the skin.'
Many of Glow Recipe's signature watermelon-based skin hydrating products have a distinct jelly-like texture. Accordingly, when Anastasia tried the Lacura Luminosity night moisturiser, she observed that it similarly featured watermelon extract and a slippery formulation.
'This looks so watery and gel-like,' Anastasia said as she applied the Aldi product. 'And it smells like watermelon candy.'
Her verdict? 'My first impression of both these products is honestly not bad. And they're super affordable.'
The Lacura Luminosity range has previously appeared in Aldi's Special Buys middle aisle for a limited time, and has historically been snapped up quickly.
Alongside the two products Anastasia trialled, others in the range include the Lacura Luminosity Highlighting Serum 40ml, $9.99, and Lacura Luminosity Hydrating Gel Moisturiser 60ml, $9.99.
To cleanse the face, Glow Recipe offer their Ceramide Moisture Barrier Cleanser, $48. Lacura Luminosity Nourishing Cleanser 150ml, $7.99, also features avocado extract and ceramides
Savvy beauty fans may note that these products closely resemble Glow Recipe's best-sellers: Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops 15ml $35 and Plum Plump Hyaluronic Cream 50ml $69.
Also included in the new Aldi-stocked Lacura range are two cleansing options: Lacura Luminosity Purifying Cleansing Balm 100ml, $7.99, and Lacura Luminosity Nourishing Cleanser 150ml,$7.99.
Like the Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm, the former Aldi item comes in a bright orange tub and contains papaya extract and enzymes. Meanwhile the latter Aldi cleanser follows the playbook of Glow Recipe's Ceramide Moisture Barrier Cleanser,$48,with the bargain buy also featuring avocado extracts and ceramides.
The Lacura Luminosity range also offers two lip care products: Watermelon Lip Balm 15ml,$7.99,and Plum Lip Balm 15ml,$7.99.
Aspiring make-up artist Phoebe was another Aussie shopper to catch on to Aldi's new beauty range.
Sharing a video of the beauty find to her @makeupbyphoebe24 TikTok account, Phoebe excitedly declared: ‘Aldi now sells Glow Recipe dupes!’
‘They were $10 each!’ she added.
‘I need to tell you to run - not walk - to Aldi and try these out immediately.’
