A hugely popular item has disappeared from Aldi stores - much to the disappointment of regular shoppers.
World Kitchen Chicken Biryani, priced at $8.99 for a 600g pack, was recently part of the supermarket's limited time only range of heat-and-serve meals.
But eagle-eyed shoppers have noticed that the ready-made Indian food favourite has suddenly become unavailable.
Taking to an online discussion forum, one Aldi shopper noted that they could no longer find the beloved item in their local store.
'Not sure about anyone else's experience, but it's been a week or so and our local Aldi (and its other two locations nearby) appear to be out of stock,' the shopper wrote in a recent post.
'Anybody experiencing the same? Wonder if it's due to supply issues or perhaps the limited production period's now run out? Vale, if so.'
The person forlornly added in the message headline that the ready-to-eat chicken biryani was 'good while it lasted'.
The Aldi Australia website appears to back up the shopper's hunch about the rice dish, with the online status now listing the product as 'not available'.
Aldi employees and shoppers joined the online discussion to unfortunately break the news that the chicken dish appeared to be now out of stock.
'It's been discontinued. Sometimes they'll bring back popular lines after a while, but it is done for its current run,' replied one person in the know.
'Limited time only,' seconded one reply.
'A moment of silence for the fallen,' read another lighthearted response.
'Still depressed,' agreed another.
The traditional-style, fragrant and flavourful biryani was made with basmati rice, marinated chicken, and slow-cooked to enhance its rich flavours.
A number of shoppers raved about the traditional-style, fragrant and flavourful biryani, which was slow-cooked and featured basmati rice and marinated chicken.
'I enjoyed this, managed to get lots of meals out of this if I added extras. Good value,' they wrote.
Another Aldi shopper said they had been able to buy the Indian meal just days earlier, and rated it as 'a solid pick for a quick meal'.
'Overall, really tasty and satisfying. I'd definitely buy it again... if found,' they added.
However, the Reddit discussion also sparked a tangential conversation among shoppers who had previously sampled it - and had thoughts about its spiciness.
One reply surmised: 'The two-chilli spice rating is spot on - just enough heat to keep things interesting without overpowering the flavours. The chicken was soft and delicate, though I wouldn't have complained if there was a bit more of it.'
But others disagreed, with one shopper replying: 'I found it too spicy and I'm Indian.'
'Would be nice if they separated the chilli so you could choose your own adventure,' another respondent agreed.
While it was available, World Kitchen Chicken Biryani also earned a decent online following thanks to a number of viral video reviews that accelerated the Aldi find's popularity.
Aldi shoppers can still get a chicken biryani fix in the freezer aisle with the Urban Eats Indian Style Chicken Biryani, priced at $4.99.
But Aldi shoppers after a chicken biryani fix aren't completely out of luck, with the budget supermarket chain currently offering an alternative: Urban Eats Indian Style Chicken Biryani, priced at $4.99.
Available in the freezer aisle, this Indian frozen meal similarly offers tender pieces of cooked chicken in a biryani sauce infused with aromatic earthy spices and served with lightly seasoned rice and peas.
Meanwhile, a different World Kitchen Indian food stocked at Aldi made a return last year - much to the excitement of shoppers.
Back by popular demand, the discount chain reintroduced its fan-favourite World Kitchen Butter Chicken Naanwich.
A play on words, the 'naanwich' is a unique sandwich featuring lashings of creamy butter chicken served between pieces of naan bread.
The snack, described by Aldi as being 'like a taco but better', is priced at $4.99 and comes in a two-pack - and shoppers absolutely love them.
Self-proclaimed Aldi enthusiast Gemma shared a TikTok video describing the naanwich as 'a big slay'.
'Don't walk, run to Aldi because this naanwich I think has changed my life,' Gemma added in her viral video.
