The Australian music industry is in mourning following the death of beloved Eurogliders musician Bernie Lynch.
Along with Grace Knight, Bernie founded the seminal band which were responsible for such hits as Heaven (Must Be There), We Will Together, and Can't Wait To See You.
Taking to social media on Tuesday, Grace revealed that Bernie had died last Thursday, aged 72, in palliative care.
She added that her former bandmate had been diagnosed with throat cancer in 2024, and while treated successfully, the disease spread in 2025.
'Late last year, cancers started appearing throughout his body, in his bones and organs, and he started to deteriorate rapidly,' Grace wrote.
'Initially, it was thought chemotherapy could extend his life expectancy, but ultimately, he became too ill to continue with treatment.'
Continuing her heartrending tribute, Grace detailed the profound influence her bandmate had on her life.
'I am heartbroken and don't know how to proceed without him. I arrived in Australia as a 21-year-old in 1977 and met Bernie not too long after - we've been in each other's lives ever since,' she wrote.
'I can't imagine what our lives would have looked like had we not crossed paths with each other. I don't know how many shows Eurogliders have done over the years, it must be thousands, and for every single one of them, I've had Bernie there, standing beside me.
'It's been such a wonderful, wonderful journey and I'm so very proud and honoured to have shared it with him.'
The singer's tribute continued, remembering Bernie as a kind and caring person who was 'generous to a fault.'
'He'd fuss about making sure the band were happy and had after-show cheese and biscuits, and a refreshing beverage,' she wrote.
'He'd come to stay at my house and turn up with bags of food and take over the kitchen. He was funny and intelligent and engaging.
'If you weren't well, or life had thrown you a curve ball, he'd be the first one on the phone to see how you were going. He was a people person and loved a chat.'
Grace also paid tribute to Bernie's innate songwriting talent.
'Without Bernie's songs there would be no Eurogliders. Songs he wrote as a young man that are still being listened to, songs that 40 years later, still get played on the radio, songs that people still sing along to at our shows. Songs that have brought so much joy to so many people,' she added.
'What a great legacy and such a fantastic contribution to the cultural landscape of this country.'
Grace rounded out her obituary, offering her sincere condolences to Bernie's family and loved ones.
'My dear friend. We soared high; we grappled in the mud. What an incredible life we shared. I feel immense gratitude. I can't let you go; I won't let you go,' Grace wrote.
Aside from being his long-time bandmate, Grace was also in a relationship with Bernie for six years.
They eventually tied the knot, with Grace revealing to the Sydney Morning Herald in 2017 that the union was short-lived.
'We were together for six years and got married in 1985. That lasted 11 months and three weeks. We fell out of love and I then introduced him to his next wife, [fashion designer] Collette Dinnigan,' Grace revealed.
The band's last performance was in Newcastle in November last year and were scheduled to appear at the Rock The Backyard festival in Penrith on March 28.
The heartfelt post was met with an outpouring of condolences from Bernie's friends and fans.
'This really hurts,' one wrote. 'What a privilege to have called him my friend.'
Another offered: So sad Grace, you two have been such a talented team for so long. The gravity of those relationships never ends. Bernie may be gone physically but the influence remains eternal.'
After forming in Perth back in 1980, The Eurogliders released a string of hits - their most notable being Heaven (Must Be There), which peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart.
They disbanded in 1989 after four studio albums before reuniting in 2005 to release three more albums - their final being 2021's Blue Kiss Project.
The band's last performance was in Newcastle in November last year and they were scheduled to appear at the Rock The Backyard festival in Penrith on March 28.
