A brave Wisconsin brother was fatally shot after leaping into action to protect his pregnant sister when her boyfriend opened fire on them.

Tyler Sadowski, 20, was gunned down in Barron while trying to save his 17-year-old sister, Makayla, from the gunman on Wednesday, police said.

The unidentified suspect, who officials confirmed was Makayla's boyfriend, shot the pregnant teen in the stomach before turning the gun on himself.

Tyler was found dead at the scene, while Makayla and the boyfriend were rushed to the hospital. Their conditions were unclear, but family said the baby miraculously survived.

The siblings' cousin, Shanay Conyers, told KARE 11 that the two had just returned home Wednesday when 'they heard like a pop, so Tyler went to go see what was happening.'

That's when Makayla's boyfriend opened fire, killing Tyler and wounding the seven-month-pregnant teen, the cousin said.

'She was expecting, so they had to take the baby, and the baby is stable,' Conyers explained.
'Makayla was in surgery for quite a while [on Wednesday]. She has been surgery again [on Thursday]. They expect to have to do another surgery [on Friday].'

Conyers said the siblings' mother had been waiting in the car outside the home with Makayla’s two-year-old daughter.

Another cousin of the two, Isela Sadowski, created a GoFundMe that described Tyler's 'heroic act of love.'

'In a heroic act of love, Tyler stepped in to protect his sister. In doing so, he lost his life. Tyler was only 20 years old, a young man full of kindness, laughter, and light,' the fundraiser stated.
'He was the sweetest son, brother, and uncle, always ready to lend a hand, always putting family first.
'Losing him has left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled.'

Conyers described Sadowski as 'probably the nicest, sweetest person you would ever meet.'

'Always a smile. The most contagious laugh. He wouldn't ever hurt a person. So, to hear out of everyone it was Tyler is really hard,' she told KARE11.

In a gruesome twist, Makayla's boyfriend posted a video of the attack on SnapChat, the Barron County Sheriff's Department said.

'That's gotta tell you something right there,' Conyers told KARE11. 'If you post something like that, you definitely a violent person.'

The shooter was discovered at the scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound

The Turtle Lake Public School District issued a warning to parents that their children may have seen or received the clip.

'He apparently shared a graphic video of the shooting on Snapchat, where some Turtle Lake students could have received the message and could be upset,' the district said in a statement.
'Please talk to your children tonight about this incident. Our counselor will be available tomorrow to discuss any needs your child may have.'

The shooter was reported to have last been an enrolled student in the school district's middle school four years ago.

He was expected to be charged after being discharged from hospital, police said.
