The battle is on.

After killing a handful of High commanders after Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) and Commander Wharton's (Josh Charles) wedding and setting off bombs across Gilead, June (Elisabeth Moss) and her team of rebel handmaids were caught and sent to the gallows as they attempted to escape Gilead.

However, seconds before June could be executed, Luke (O-T Fagbenle) and Rita (Amanda Brugel) attacked and killed the Guardians, setting her free. Despite her brush with death, June was not deterred, and the incident made her even more determined to see her plan through.

While many Commanders were killed the night of the wedding, major ones, including Wharton, were still alive and in hiding. June and Mayday were only able to figure out their whereabouts after cajoling Serena into giving out their location. Turns out Wharton and the remaining Commanders were heading to Washington, D.C. to get backup. This is where Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) stepped in, planting a bomb on the plane carrying the commanders and ultimately sacrificing himself for the cause.

The future of Gilead, June and how the finale will set the stage for "The Handmaid's Tale" sequel "The Testaments," still remains unknown. According to Hulu, the final chapter of June's journey "highlights the importance of hope, courage, solidarity, and resilience in the pursuit of justice and freedom."
