While there's plenty to rave about when it comes to working with Maya Rudolph, the one thing that Joel Kim Booster can't get over is his Loot costar's snacks.

"I always go back to the snacks. She's a snack queen and she always brings in her special home snacks and we'll share them and eat them without any hesitation," Booster, 37, gushes to PEOPLE about working with the Saturday Night Live alum on their Apple TV comedy over the course of three seasons.

But more seriously, the Fire Island star says that Rudolph, 53, "is so willing to be in the mix with us. Like, there are many people in her position -- and there's no judgement about this and I think it's totally warranted if you wanted to act this way -- who are just off in their trailer in between scenes or just not engaging with us 'cause they're No. 1 on the call sheet. And that's not Maya at all."

The "us" Booster is referring to is the cast and crew of creators Matt Hubbard and Alan Yang's workplace-relationship comedy, which stars Rudolph as wealthy divorcee Molly Wells who embarks on an ongoing journey of self-discovery as she figures out how to use her $87 billion settlement for good.

The cast is rounded out by Booster as her trusted and longtime assistant, Nicholas, who finds himself wanting more out of his role; Michaela Jaé Rodriguez as Sofia Salinas, the overworked executive director of Molly's philanthropic organization; Ron Funches as Howard, the organization's IT specialist; Nat Faxon as Arthur, a well-meaning accountant who finds himself in a complicated relationship with Molly.

"She sees this as a team and wants to be part of that team -- not just the captain of the team. And so, we spend a lot of time together," Booster continues, noting that "it's been really wonderful to not only be friends with Maya but also learn from Maya."
"Every day working with her is a masterclass in comedy and just going for the fucking balls to the walls every single take and making choices," the actor adds. "The biggest thing I've learned from Maya is the ability to make these big, bold choices without fear and without fear of looking stupid or it being wrong or whatever. But just going for those big choices."

It also doesn't hurt that Rudolph was there for Booster when he first started dating his fiancé, John-Michael Sudsina. "She also, during the early days, talked me through my relationship," he says, before Rudolph adds, "Yes, but you were so great about it... You had a plan; you just needed the information."

"It's true. And now I'm getting married at the end of the year," Booster replies, referring to his and Sudsina's nuptials planned for New Year's Eve in San Francisco with Rudolph potentially making an appearance as his flower girl.

While the two have formed a deep bond on set, their characters see their personal and professional dynamics go through an evolution on season 3 of Loot -- something the two performers really enjoyed exploring together.

"It was wonderful," Rudolph says of their story arc in the new episodes. "I feel like now we get the chance to really delve deep into the origins of Molly and Nicholas and what makes this very strange, codependent but loving relationship tick and where it comes from. I think it actually goes to some very beautiful places."

The actress explains, "We've gotten to know a lot about Molly through her divorce and having to rebuild her life. Now, we're really seeing how Nicholas really showed up for her and helped her become the person that she is and the person that he worships."

While Rudolph says Molly and Nicholas’ relationship is “built on equal love” for each other, “this season you really start to understand Nicholas’ role in all of this and who he is and what he needs to feel fulfilled.” Because of that, “you might have to step back sometimes in order to be able to let them do that.”

Going off of that, Booster teases an upcoming episode that is a "flashback to the past" when "Nicholas sees Molly's greatness before Molly sees Molly's greatness." And then, "in the present, you see it reversed with Mollyseeing all of Nicholas' potential before he sees it for himself."

Booster adds, "It's such a beautiful thing and such a real thing with a lot of friendships that I've had. And that's what makes it such a fun relationship to play out on screen."

The first two episodes of Loot season 3 are now streaming on Apple TV, with new episodes debuting Wednesdays until Dec. 10.
