The Wanted star Tom Parker's widow Kelsey has revealed the heartbreaking words her daughter uttered about her father after her baby brother's stillbirth.
Appearing on Tuesday's episode of Loose Women, the podcast host, 35, spoke about life since her husband Tom died from a brain tumour in 2022 and reflected on the tragic stillbirth of her baby son Phoenix in June this year.
Kelsey is mother to Aurelia, six, and Bodhi, four, with Tom, and was expecting her third child with partner Will Lindsay, who she found love with two years after Tom's death. Their baby Phoenix was born at 39 weeks.
Speaking about how she explained his passing to Aurelia and Bodhi, she said: 'Time has been really tough. Because Aurelia's six, I wasn't giving her the right answer to what she wanted. I said, 'Pheonix has died and Phoenix is with daddy now.'
Kelsey revealed Aurelia’s heartbreaking response, saying: ‘And she was like, ‘I hate dad, why does dad keep taking everyone?’ So that wasn’t the right answer. Again, you’re trying to find out for your children, what’s the right way to navigate this?’
Kelsey has been open about the grief that has thwarted the family since the pop star’s untimely death aged just 33.
Since announcing Phoenix’s stillbirth, she removed herself from social media and the spotlight but is now speaking about navigating grief with children.
Having revealed Aurelia’s response, she said of Bodhi: ‘And I think with my little Bodhi, he’s been through so much...
‘I was 35 weeks pregnant when Tom was diagnosed; he was only 18 months when Tom died. I’m his hero; so as long I’m okay, he’s okay.’
She heartbreakingly admitted: ‘But with Aurelia, she’s beyond her years.’
Earlier this week, Kelsey emotionally revealed sick trolls cruelly told her Phoenix’s stillbirth was ‘karma’ amid her new romance.
In September last year, Kelsey went official with Will , with the pair announcing they were expecting their first child - before announcing he was 'born sleeping', after which she reveaked sick trolls branded her heartbreaking loss as 'karma'.
Speaking to The Sun, she said: 'There were comments like 'karma'... I mean, that just shocks me. Someone else said I deserved for my baby to die...
'How can anyone think someone deserves to lose their baby? That's what they were insinuating - that I deserved this pain, this loss.
'Someone also compared Phoenix to a cat they had lost, as if to them losing a cat didn't mean anything and was insignificant - it's just so disrespectful.'
Reflecting on one abhorrent message, Kelsey continued: 'One person wrote, "He wasn't much of a Phoenix - he didn't rise from the ashes."
'It was sickening. For me, it was just absolutely heartbreaking to see that and about a baby that didn't even make it into the world. I felt I couldn't protect him.'
She added that the abuse she was receiving didn't just affect her, but impacted on her children, her mother and partner. Kelsey said she is still open to having more children and believes Tom is 'looking after Phoenix for us'.
