Luke Evans sent fans wild with his head-to-toe leather outfit at the Met Gala in New York City on Monday.

The actor, 47, ensured all eyes were on him as he arrived on the red carpet in a brown jacket and matching trousers which featured several buttons around his bottom.

The film star also sported a brown leather hat and added to his look with a matching tie and black shirt.

Posing up a storm for the cameras, Luke completed his look with a pair of black shoes and a trim moustache.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Luke said the outfit was influenced by Tom Of Finland, a Finnish artist known for his erotic drawings featuring hypermasculine characters.

The theme of this year's event - widely considered the Super Bowl of celebrity red carpets - was 'Costume Art', while the dress code is 'Fashion Is Art.'

The dress code called on the A-list attendees to explore how designers use the human body as a blank canvas.

Luke's outfit drew strong reaction on social media with some praising him for the daring look while others said it bore a resemblance to the 'Leatherman' from the Village People.

Taking to X, fans wrote: 'Clean look on the red carpet, Luke Evans delivers'... 'What in the village people is going on here?'

'It's giving YMCA'... 'Is this a strip show or the Met Gala?'... 'I don't like admitting it but he looks so good here'... 'I'm unfortunately obsessed'.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, known as the Met Gala, falls on the first Monday in May every year.

The New York City museum paired historical and contemporary garments from the Costume Institute for the exhibition, which was loosely divided into three categories, including the classical and the nude body, ageing and pregnant bodies, and the anatomical body.

French luxury fashion house Yves Saint Laurent sponsored the exhibit.

The 2026 Met Gala had a host committee that included co-chairs Anthony Vaccarello and Zoe Kravitz, along with members Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Angela Bassett, Gwendoline Christie, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor and more.

The film star also sported a brown leather hat and added to his look with a matching tie and black shirt.

Costume Art will run from May 10, 2026 through January 10, 2027.

The Met Gala is a huge money-maker for the museum, and provides the Costume Institute with its main source of funding.

The 2026 event marked a major moment because it's the first one since Anna Wintour stepped back from one of her famed roles at Vogue.

In June 2025, Wintour announced she was stepping down as the editor-in-chief of American Vogue after 37 years.

Wintour has famously been incredibly hands-on with the Met Gala over the years and is credited with making it the splashy A-list affair it has become.

This year's gala was marred with controversy over Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, 62, and his wife Lauren Sanchez sponsoring the event.

The couple reportedly gave $10 million to the Costume Institute in exchange for being named honorary co-chairs.
