McDonald's Australia has quietly reintroduced a much-loved dessert item - and its unexpected return has delighted fans.
As of this week, the fast-food giant has returned the popular Crème Brûlée Pie to its menu.
A McDonald's Australia spokesperson confirmed the sweet treat's comeback to Daily Mail.
'It's official - Macca's iconic Crème Brûlée Pie is back on menus nationwide from 29 April, for a limited time,' the spokesperson said.
'Fans can look forward to biting into that golden, crispy crust filled with sweet caramel and smooth vanilla custard goodness.'
The spokesperson added that the dessert is 'priced at just $2'.
This means the Crème Brûlée Pie also rejoins the Macca's Loose Change Menu, which features items priced under $4.
The new menu addition is described online as featuring 'crisp pastry, lovingly filled with vanilla custard filling for that extra sweet taste' - and it's 'served piping hot'.
The warming dessert arrives just in time for the cooler months - and renowned Melbourne foodie blogger Nector Vlangos, better known as @nectoriouspapi, is among those who were excited about its return.
'Crème Brûlée Pie is back at Macca's!' he gleefully announced in a recent video of himself tucking into the dessert.
'This is one of my favourite pies ever that Macca's has released,' he exclaimed, adding that it's the unique combination of caramel and custard that makes it 'so good!'
The video quickly attracted hundreds of replies from excited Aussie Macca's fans - many of whom had been patiently awaiting this day.
'About time!' replied one long-time fan.
'I've waited a lifetime for this to come back!!' another agreed.
'Finally. THIS WAS A CRAVING,' another exclaimed.
'I've waited 39499555005 days for this to return,' another jokingly replied.
Meanwhile, several people who watched Nector devour the gooey warm pie were simply excited about the flavour combo and couldn't wait to get their hands on it.
'OMG THAT CARAMEL,' noted one reply.
'What a treat,' another wrote.
'Fineeeee I guess I'll "force myself" to go get this,' sarcastically added another.
'Omg I have to try this,' another chimed in.
'I'm sooo keen!' agreed another.
However, the online discussion about the new pie variety inevitably prompted comparisons to the original mainstay dessert on the Macca's menu: the Hot Apple Pie.
One fan dedicated to the original responded: 'Nah, it's always going to be the OG apple pie for me.'
Yet another Aussie felt this particular limited edition pie gave the traditional flavour a serious run for its money, replying: 'Imagine the ppl that think the apple is better. Wild.'
