A Shropshire MP has criticised postal services in the county in a parliamentary debate, after he said his constituents had reported missing medical appointments due to late letter deliveries.
Organised by South Shropshire MP Stuart Anderson, it also saw the Wrekin's Mark Pritchard and Helen Morgan of North Shropshire relay stories from their areas.
"Recent weeks have shown that there are 68 post codes in the West Midlands that have not received mail or are having delays to mail... 30 of them I have recorded in south Shropshire - this is a major issue for my residents," Anderson told the BBC.
The BBC has contacted Royal Mail for comment.
"There is failure, and there is a universal service obligation for Royal Mail to deliver letters within a set period, and at the moment these are failing.
"The rural areas, from what I'm finding, particularly in south Shropshire are being hit even harder."
In the hour-and-a-half long debate on Wednesday, the Conservative MP demanded that action be taken.
"I have been speaking regularly with Royal Mail and there's a gap in different people working in different areas, I've been told parcels have been prioritised over letters, and I have a whole host of case work of issues," he said.
He said one of his constituents got a letter regarding medical surgery 10 days after the surgery date.
"There are legal documents getting failed, people getting fined, my office has been working flat out," he added.
"The best outcome is that residents across south Shropshire get the letters when they're supposed to, they're not asking for something above and beyond, they're just asking that the legal requirements are met for delivery to my residents."
He said in the Highley area of Bridgnorth, residents were going to the sorting office to pick up their post.
Morgan, North Shropshire's Liberal Democrat MP, added that her own post came in two bulk deliveries per week, and her constituents had reported going three weeks without deliveries, which was "costly to health, time and finances".
"I've had reports of people being charged with contempt of court for not returning papers in time even though they didn't arrive until after the due date."
She added that in her latest meeting with Royal Mail representatives, they said they were facing challenges with recruitment and retention, and addressing this issue required investment in rural services across the board.
Pritchard, Conservative MP for The Wrekin, added that the criticism was "not about posties", but about senior management at the company.
Government minister Blair McDougall said Royal Mail would likely face further fines for poor services.
