Nick Cannon revealed a shocking 'double standard' when it comes to his and Mariah Carey's twins dating.

The 45-year-old TV personality - who celebrated his eldest children turning one year older last month - offered his candid thoughts on the topic during Saturday's episode of The TMZ podcast.

Cannon shares Moroccan and Monroe, 15, with ex-wife Mariah Carey, whom he was married to from 2008 until their divorce in 2016.

The conversation began as the star revealed that his son Moroccan has started to date, but his twin sister is not allowed to do the same.

'My son been dating and I've allowed it,' he revealed to podcast host Towanda Robinson, before adding that he has 'encouraged it.'

However, when questioned if his eldest daughter is being given the same opportunity, Cannon admitted, 'No, absolutely not.'

The media personality then shared that he understands it is 'absolutely a double standard.'

He explained that 'there is a difference when parenting a son and when parenting a daughter.'

'I am more protective of my daughter because there's things out there that I have to protect my daughter from.'

Cannon continued, 'Like, as we know, there's certain types of individuals that you want to keep your daughter away from. My son, it's a different conversation when he's going out into the dating world.'

The star then added it is his 'worst nightmare' for someone to hurt his daughter Monroe.

'But if somebody puts their hands on my daughter, I'm going to jail... I'm doing 25 to life if somebody put their hands on my daughter.'

When Robinson asked if he was worried about 'gold diggers' approaching Moroccan, Cannon answered that he was not.

'No! He got a whole lot of money. His mom is Mariah Carey! He’s good,' The Masked Singer host said.

Cannon was also asked when Monroe can date if her twin brother is already out in the dating world.

Followed by a brief pause, the star explained that both he and his eldest daughter have 'made a deal' in regards to her dating.

'If she can explain to me what's going to happen on these dates, then she can go,' he said.

Cannon also joked that her twin brother can tag along on his sister's dates.

'But you ain’t going one-on-one with no little b*d anywhere,' the star said, before adding that he is 'preparing her for college.'

'I know that’s out of my control. I can’t do nothing about it. Hopefully we’re having all these open conversations. My daughter tells me any and everything.'

And while he still might be 'apprehensive,' Cannon expressed that if she can 'explain it to me - if we can have a conversation about it, I’m for it.'

'Because I know when you get to college, I want you to have all the questions answered and you make the best decisions possible.'

Social media users jumped over to X to share differing thoughts on his comments, with one penning, 'I understand him. parenting a teenage boy is entirely DIFFERENT than a teenage girl.'

Another typed, 'Why is this weird? This is like 99% of parents,' but a fan added, 'No, you can be protective of both of them.'

'Nope, he's absolutely right on that and I am the same exact way,' an X user wrote, and one shared, 'Idk why people are shocked. Most dads dont want to imagine their daughters dating. Look at every sitcom dad.'

A fan said, 'A lot of parents are more protective with daughters because they worry about different risks, especially at that age.'

'Literally makes no sense,' another penned, and one added, 'Who is Moroccan a 15 year old boy taking on a date? Definitely someone his age or lower, so why not let another boy same age to Monroe out too?'

Last month, Monroe and Moroccan celebrated turning 15.

Cannon joined his eldest children for a fun outing to Six Flags and shared sweet moments from the trip to his main Instagram page.

The trio had a blast on rides at the amusement park and the twins indulged in their own cakes that had their faces on top.

'Got two 15 year olds on my hands now!!!! Happy Birthday to my first firstborns!' he penned in the caption.

Carey has previously opened up about her co-parenting relationship with Cannon when it comes to raising their twins.

Last year in July, the Obsessed singer told Harper's Bazaar, 'How do I say this? They spend time with him, and they have a good time; they spend time with me, and they have a good time.

'I want to make sure I'm always fair about the situation because it's tough to grow up with divorced parents.'

And a few months later in September, Carey avoided making a comment about her relationship with Cannon years after their split.

During an appearance on CBS Mornings, she told host Gayle King: 'I kind of feel like it's best if I don't talk about him, because he can just be in his own world. No offense to him.'

That same month, Cannon shockingly blamed his divorce from Carey for triggering 'trauma' that led to him having 12 children.

Along with his eldest twins, Cannon has welcomed 10 other children with five different baby mamas.

He shares Golden Sagon, nine, Rise Messiah, three, and Powerful Queen, five, with Brittany Bell as well as twins Zion and Zillion, four, and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin, three, with Abby De La Rosa.

The star is also dad to Legendary, three, whom he welcomed with Bre Tiesi as well as Onyx, three, with LaNisha Cole.
