Summary of Indictments
Between 2022 and 2024, defendant Ingrid Lewis Martin ("LEWIS-MARTIN"), then Chief Advisor to the Mayor of the City of New York, repeatedly violated the public trust and abused her position, authority, and influence for personal gain. As charged in four new indictments,¹ LEWIS-MARTIN engaged in a series of bribery schemes with her co-conspirators in which she promoted her co-conspirators' projects and business before the City and overrode other City officials' expertise and decision making² to ensure that certain required actions were accomplished for the benefit of her co-conspirators. In exchange, LEWIS-MARTIN and, in some cases, her son and co-defendant, Glenn D. Martin II aka Suave aka Suave Luciano ("MARTIN II"), received benefits ranging from tens of thousands of dollars in cash, to catering worth thousands of dollars for events LEWIS-MARTIN planned, to a part in a TV show, which made LEWIS-MARTIN eligible to join the Screen Actors Guild.
The charged conduct involved: (a) LEWIS-MARTIN's efforts on behalf of Tian Ji Li ("LI") to help property owners LI identified to secure lease agreements with New York City to house asylum seekers (including LEWIS-MARTIN's attempt to override a City employee's determination that a particular location was problematic), and LEWIS-MARTIN's intervention and MARTIN II's assistance on behalf of LI and V Show, Inc. ("V SHOW"), his karaoke club in Queens, to expedite decisions and approvals by the New York City Fire Department ("FDNY") and the New York City Department of Buildings ("DOB"). In exchange for her and MARTIN II’s efforts, LI paid...
1 In December 2024, LEWIS-MARTIN and her son, Glenn D. Martin II aka Suave aka Suave Luciano, were indicted along with their co-conspirators, Raizada Vaid and Mayank Dwivedi, in a long-running bribery and money laundering scheme (Indictment 75644/2024). In that case, LEWIS-MARTIN is charged with using her position and authority as the Mayor's Chief Advisor to influence and affect City decisions on behalf of Vaid and Dwivedi in exchange for over $100,000 in cash and other benefits for herself and her son. That indictment is currently pending before this Court.
2 With the exception of the defendants, no City official referenced herein or in any of the indictments is accused of participating in the charged conduct.
