Sabrina Carpenter made her Austin City Limits debut with a special guest: Shania Twain.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, Carpenter, who was one of the festival's headliners, invited Twain, 60, for a duet of "That Don't Impress Me Much."
Ahead of introducing the surprise guest, Carpenter, 26, told the crowd she had a gift for them, explaining,""I show love in weird ways. One of the ways I show my love is by gift-giving. That's one of my languages, and I thought it'd be fun to give you guys a little gift tonight."
"Give you a little present because you all showed up and showed out for all of us," she continued, "Will you please make the most noise in the world for the incredible, one and only Shania Twain?"
The singers then immediately broke out into Twain's 1998 hit -- which Carpenter also sang during her previous Short n' Sweet Tour.
During the performance, Twain wore an all-black Western-inspired outfit, complete with a black cowboy hat, a Western-style shirt, black denim shorts, and black cowboy boots. Meanwhile, Carpenter's look embraced a lighter country-inspired look, with a bedazzled yellow cropped flannel and matching bandana, bedazzled daisy duke shorts and white cowboy boots.
"Austin. Shania Twain! Make some f---ing noise," Carpenter said after she and Twain hugged after the performance ended.
After the performance, both celebrated their duet on Instagram. Twain uploaded a few photos of the duo performing on stage, in addition to pictures of them embracing one another off stage. "It's like Loretta and Dolly except it's SHANIA & SABRINA 💖," Twain wrote in reference to Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn and their famed close friendship.
Carpenter sweetly replied in the comments, writing, "ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ love you Shania!!!!"
Carpenter posted an Instagram carousel highlighting the entire weekend, with a couple of sweet snapshots of the pair singing alongside one another as well as a backstage Polaroid picture.
"ACL weekend 1💛💛💛 . @aclfestival. Crowd of my dreams. Shania of my dreams. Djo of my dreams. what a perfect night. thank you all so much for coming out and singing loudlyyy just how i like it," her caption read.
During Carpenter's set, she also "arrested" Joe Keery for "being too hot."
Carpenter and Twain's recent on-stage collaboration comes less than a year after Twain appeared in Carpenter's A Nonsense Christmas Netflix special. In the star-studded special, Twain played the role of Mrs. Claus.
Prior to their performance, Twain remarked that it is "a huge compliment" to have the "Juno" singer cover "That Don't Impress Me Much." Twain told E! News in September 2024, "[Carpenter is] such a talented person! She's smart, so it's a compliment."
Months later, in February 2025, Twain exclusively told PEOPLE that she is grateful that she has inspired the next generation of music stars -- including Carpenter. "It is very moving," Twain says, "and I relate to what they say when they talk about me and how they're feeling and how they express it to me personally."
Austin City Limits Festival will continue this coming weekend, and Carpenter will return to the stage on Saturday, Oct. 11.
