Tim Matheson, best known for his role as Vernon 'Doc' Mullins on Netflix's hit show Virgin River, has revealed that he's been targeted by imposter accounts on social media.
The veteran actor, 78, has earned a new wave of fans with the series, which just released its 7th season and has been renewed for an 8th.
Matheson, who portrays the no-nonsense town doctor navigating a rocky romance with Hope McCrea (Annette O'Toole), previously found fame in the 1978 comedy classic Animal House and as the Vice President on The West Wing.
However, his newfound popularity seems to have attracted the wrong kind of attention, as fans noticed unusual activity on his social media.
'Why did you change your IG twice?? Hmmmm, very suspicious...,' one fan commented in early April.
Matheson quickly responded, 'You may have seen some imposter accounts. I've been reporting quite a few of them.'
Other fans quickly expressed their relief over the clarification, continuing to praise Matheson for his stellar performance on Virgin River.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Matheson's representatives for comment.
Matheson, born in Glendale, California, in 1947, has built a diverse and lasting career in film and television that spans over six decades.
Early in his career, he gained attention as a child actor, first appearing in the CBS comedy Window on Main Street at just 13 years old.
He went on to feature in various popular TV shows, including Leave It to Beaver, My Three Sons, and voiced the lead character in the animated series Jonny Quest (1964).
His early roles established him as a versatile performer in both live-action and voice work.
In 1968, Matheson made his feature film debut in Yours, Mine and Ours alongside Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda, before transitioning to television roles like his portrayal of cowboy Jim Horn in The Virginian (1969).
