NEWS 15) -- Parts of Acadiana are experiencing water woes from water main breaks, low water pressure, and other problems, resulting in some boil water advisories being issued.

NEWEST ADDITIONS:

ST. MARTIN PARISH:
  • (3/18/26) The City of Breaux Bridge Water System will undergo modifications at the water plant on Wednesday, March 18. During this time, water stored in elevated towers will remain safe for consumption. Due to potential microbiological contamination during the modifications, the city has issued a Boil Water Advisory starting at noon. The advisory will remain in effect until further notice from the Health Department.

ONGOING PROBLEMS:

LAFAYETTE PARISH:
  • (3/9/26) Broussard - A water main break near Parish Brewing Company in Broussard has led to a boil water order for the Broussard area. The break affected customers of Magnolia Water in Shenandoah Estates, leaving some homes and businesses without water service temporarily. Crews repaired the break, but customers are advised to boil their water until further notice.
ST. LANDRY PARISH:
  • (3/8/26) Port Barre - A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for the Town of Port Barre due to an equipment malfunction at the water distribution site. The issue has resulted in no water or low water pressure, affecting the microbiological quality of the water supply. Residents are advised to boil their water before use until further notice. The advisory will remain in effect until it is officially lifted by the Town of Port Barre Water System.
ST. MARTIN PARISH:
  • (3/12/26) St. Martinville - Contractors in St. Martinville replaced fire hydrants on Wednesday, March 11, affecting several areas in the city. Customers in the Duran Subdivision east of Mary Margaret Drive, including Stephanie Drive, Louisiana Drive, Gladys Drive, and Teresa Drive are under a Boil Water Advisory. Officials reported crews will be shutting off water on Teresa Drive from Mary Margaret to Catherine Drive and all of Stephanie Drive on Thursday, March 12, and if time allows, they will also shut off water on the north end of the city past West Park Street. All customers in these affected areas will be under a Boil Water Advisory until further notice.
ST. MARY PARISH:
  • (2/21/26) Franklin - The City of Franklin Water Plant had crews working on its raw water intake pump from Friday mid-morning until early Saturday morning. As a result, many residents experienced low or no water pressure. The mayor said all of the repairs were completed and water pressure has been restored to 100%.
  • (2/19/26) Franklin - A main water line rupture prompted a Boil Water Advisory, according to the St. Mary Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness. It will remain in effect until further notice.
