Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, starring Rob Reiner, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer, is new in theaters. How soon will fans be able to rock with the movie at home?

Also directed by Reiner, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues opens in theaters nationwide on Friday. The official summary for the movie reads, "Forty-one years after the release of the groundbreaking mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, the now estranged bandmates David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, and Derek Smalls (Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer) are forced to reunite for one final concert.

"Spinal Tap II: The End Continues also marks the resurrection of documentarian Marty Di Bergi (Rob Reiner), who once again tries to capture his favorite metal gods as they contemplate mortality -- and the hope that their 12th drummer doesn't join them in The Great Beyond. Joined by music royalty Paul McCartney and Elton John, Spinal Tap wrestles with their checkered past to put on a concert that they hope will solidify their place in the pantheon of rock 'n' roll."

Rated R, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues also stars Fran Drescher, Paul Shaffer, Questlove, Chris Addison and John Michael Higgins.

The first stop for Spinal Tap II: The End Continues in the home entertainment marketplace is on digital streaming via premium video on demand.

Typically, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues' studio, Bleecker Street, has about a three-week to one-month window between the time its films open in theaters and arrive on PVOD. For example, Bleecker Street's The Wedding Banquet, starring Bowen Yang, debuted on PVOD on May 13, just a bit over three weeks after it was released in theaters on April 18.

Before that, Bleecker Street's Kristen Stewart-Steven Yuen sci-fi romance Love Me arrived on PVOD on Feb. 18, just under three weeks after the film opened in limited release in theaters on Jan. 31.

If Spinal Tap II: The End Continues follows the same release pattern as the Bleecker Street titles above, it will likely land on PVOD sometime between Sept. 30 and Oct. 7, since new digital streaming releases generally come out on Tuesdays.

Thanks to a three-year deal between Bleecker Street and Paramount Global-owned Showtime, all Bleecker Street titles stream on Paramount+ Premium (formerly Paramount+ with Showtime) first.

Typically, it takes about four and a half to five months before Bleecker Street films debut on streaming video on demand on Paramount+ Premium. For example, Love Me, which opened in theaters on Jan. 31, didn't arrive on Paramount+ Premium until June 16.

More recently, The Wedding Banquet, which opened in theaters on April 18, just arrived on Paramount+ Premium on Sept. 8.
