Yellowstone star Lainey Wilson has candidly talked about her money struggles when she met NFL player Devlin 'Duck' Hodges.

The 33-year-old singer and actress has been dating the former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback since 2021 and she got real about being broke when they began dating.

A teaser clip for her Netflix documentary Keepin' Country Cool was released on Tuesday as it began with Wilson showing off a photo of the night she first encountered Hodges as she said: 'That was the night we met.'

'I was broke. I was so broke when we met. And he thought I was doing a little bit better than I was. But a few weeks after we met, my sister had to Venmo me a couple hundred bucks.'

She proceeded to sing her song Yesterday, All Day, Every Day with her bandmates.

Wilson continued: 'I knew whenever I had written my first song that I loved how it made me feel when I was in the middle of writing the song.'

'When I was coming up with the idea, feeling like, 'Man, I created something from nothing. How cool is that.'

Home video footage of Wilson as a child playing the guitar was shown before an early clip of her performing at a small bar.

She concluded: 'And I knew that that feeling was so special that I couldn't completely let it go, and I think that's why I knew it was my calling.'

Lainey Wilson: Keepin' Country Cool is set to stream on Netflix beginning Wednesday, April 22.

Wilson and Hodges announced their engagement in February 2025.

Hodges proposed at the George Jones estate in Franklin, Tennessee as he gave the beauty a large diamond engagement ring that was in a box shaped like a cowboy hat.

Back in August, it was revealed to Daily Mail that Wilson is planning a massive country-style wedding which will take place in Nashville, Tennessee where the country crooner owns a 30-acre property.

'That is the best location because she has deep ties there and also Devlin has ties to Alabama, which is only a four-hour drive away,' said a source.

The event will have a country theme and the venue will have horses.

'It will be sexy country, like a California cowgirl look, so traditional with a little sassiness thrown in,' a source tells Daily Mail.
'Lainey is already looking at wedding dresses and wants something that highlights her slender figure with a touch of Southern charm. Think Southern belle meets music royalty. And no, she won't walk down the aisle with a cowgirl hat on.'

The guest list for the upcoming celebration will include some of her Yellowstone cast members like Ian Bohen who played her love interest Ryan.

And there will likely be many major country artists like Dolly Parton, Luke Combs and Anne Wilson. Her top guest, however, will be her sister Janna Sadler whom she grew up with in Louisiana.

The couple has been together since 2021, though they kept their romance private until making their red-carpet debut in 2023.

Another nice touch is there will be live bands: 'There will be all kinds of music, like country, jazz and retro music, it will be a great mix. And Lainey may even sing herself.'

In early August she said she was not planning her wedding just yet.

'Of course we sit around and talk about like, what we would want. Just trying to figure out is it [the wedding] big or small? Is cousin so-and-so coming? Is cousin so-and-so not?' the Grammy Award-winner told Taste of Country.
