She then blamed her sober friend for not preventing her from making regrettable decisions.

Bachelorette events are often framed as a bride-to-be's final taste of "freedom" before settling into married life, but one celebration pushed that idea to its limits.

During a night out at a club, one bride-to-be cheated on her fiancé and later shifted the blame to a friend she claimed should have acted as the group's "designated adult."

That friend took to Reddit to ask for advice on whether she was truly at fault for not stopping the bride from "giving in to temptation."

"The bride-to-be (let's call her Elly) has an ultra-strict and jealous fiance," the Reddit user wrote in a post, suggesting that their dynamic was the driving force behind her friend's decision to have an unusually "short and mild" bachelorette dinner rather than a huge celebration.

Following the event, the Reddit user had made plans to go to a club with a couple of other friends, one she called Cloe. However, the bride-to-be decided to tag along.

"Cloe dragged Elly over for shots, using the 'it's your last chance' excuse," she recalled. "Three hours later, the two of them vanished. I was the only 100% sober person in our group; I don't drink due to medical treatment."

After searching for both of them, she found Elly and Cloe kissing, surrounded by a few men.

"Elly was cheating a few weeks before her wedding," the Reddit user wrote. "I physically pulled them away and we walked to find a taxi. That's when the drama started."

The Reddit user told Elly that her actions were "risking her entire future," and then turned on Cloe, accusing her of bringing the bride "into her own adventures without thinking about the consequences."

Cloe then "attacked" the Reddit user, claiming that she wasn't a "true friend" because she wouldn't let Elly enjoy her last chance at "fun."

The biggest shock, however, came when Elly sided with Cloe and blamed the Reddit user.

"She said I was at fault because I didn't take care of her and stop her from giving in to temptation, since I was the one who wasn't drinking," she wrote. "[Elly] said I wasn't a true friend because I didn't 'understand' her."

In the end, the Reddit user questioned whether she was in the wrong for calling out Elly's irresponsibility, refusing to serve as the group's "nanny" simply because she was sober, and stepping in when the bride risked sabotaging her own future.

Nevertheless, commenters sided with the Reddit user, with one reminding her that she was dealing with "full grown adults who made their own poor decisions. Make yours by walking away & getting new friends."
