Eamonn Holmes disappeared from GB News days after worrying fans by 'slurring and falling asleep' live on air.

Last Wednesday (11 March) the presenter, 66, sparked concern during his appearance on Breakfast with Eamonn and Ellie on GB News.

Eamonn, who was seen was at a glam Elizabeth Hurley at Cancer Research event on Monday evening, was presenting his show alongside his co-host Ellie Costello when he appeared to fall asleep in his chair, as well as play around with his microphone and mobile.

The broadcaster hasn't been on air since then, with Mark White stepping in for him on Monday (16 March), and Stephen Dixon on Thursday and Friday last week.

His disappearance hasn't gone unnoticed by viewers.

One wrote on X: 'It looks like eamonn holmes has been axed by GBNEWS for falling asleep live on air while presenting the breakfast show.'

The broadcaster, 66, who has suffered a number of health issues over the past few years, returned to our screens alongside co-host Ellie Costello to present the latest news and headlines.

Another said on his latest Instagram post: 'Why were you not on this morning.'

Daily Mail has contacted GB News for comment, who confirmed that Eamonn is currently on annual leave.

On Wednesday, right at the end of the episode, while interviewing Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, Darren Jones MP, Eamonn looked like he had fallen asleep in the studio.

While Ellie quizzed Darren about the Mandelson files, Eamonn had his eyes closed and then later on during the chat he picked up a pen and struggled to put the lid on it.

After the interview finished, Eamonn told viewers: 'We'll see you bright and early again in the morning. Whatever you are up to, have a good day!'

Some took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their concern.

'@GBNEWS Please help Eamonn Holmes. He's obviously struggling, falling asleep this morning. Slurring his words. The guy needs medical assistance!!'
'#GBN Help Eamonn Holmes. The man is falling asleep on GB News this morning!! This is quite cruel...'

Meanwhile a source told The Sun: 'It hasn't gone unnoticed that Eamonn has been struggling a lot more lately.'

'Today he was falling asleep on air and slurring his words. There were lots of messages coming in about it.'

Daily Mail contacted GB News for comment at the time.

It comes after Eamonn shared a 'horrendous' health update - and claimed that the 'ageist' TV industry 'doesn't want to know him' now that he is older and in a wheelchair.

Back in 2016, the broadcaster underwent a double hip replacement, but in 2021 he suffered three slipped discs and a dislocated pelvis.

He then had major spinal surgery the following year, and has had various other health issues over the past few years.

During a recent appearance on Scott Wright's podcast, Session7, the journalist shared how he is doing right now - and opened up the daily struggles he faces in and outside of work.

Host Scott asked him: 'What does the future hold for Eamonn Holmes?'

Eamonn, who is currently in a relationship with Katie Alexander, 43, said: 'I don't know, society's ageist, I'm sick, I'm in a wheelchair, that's been horrendous to deal with for two years.

'Certainly, I don't think TV wants to know you. I can't get up. I need help getting out of this chair.

'I have to have carers throughout the day.

'But once I'm sitting down, I can do everything. I understand my job; I understand what I'm supposed to do.

'But I understand it's tough for people to deal with you.'

He added in the podcast: 'When you're disabled, it's unbelievable how society... whether it's a theatre, a restaurant or a cinema.

'The cinema never ceases to amaze me. I love the cinema, but when you go to the cinema and you're disabled, you get two choices: you're either at the very, very, very back and beyond of the cinema, or you're right at the very front.

'And you think to yourself, why is this? Why does it have to be one or the other like that?'

Eamonn has been a huge name in the TV and showbiz industry for a number of years.

He has presented various television shows including GMTV, Open Air, Jet Set, TV Scrabble and How Do They Do That?

The journalist also co-presented This Morning alongside ex-wife Ruth Langsford between 2006 and 2021.

The pair announced their split in in 2024 after 14 years of marriage.

Eamonn has hosted Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel on GB News since 2022.

Back in October Eamonn raged that 'nobody cares' about his 'special needs' in a rant live on GB News.

During his appearance on TV, he lifted the lid on the complications he faces with his disability when booking hotel rooms.

Eamonn fumed: 'Do you know what? You can't even phone a hotel anymore.

'You've got to go to a website, but I don't want to go to a website.

'I want to talk to people and explain I've got special needs.

'I need a bathroom with bars so I can hold and stand up in the shower with or whatever, but you just cannot speak to anybody. But nobody cares.'
