A woman who organises nude cruises for over 2,000 people has revealed the crucial rule all passengers must follow onboard.

Kat Whitmire, 63, is the vice president of sales for nudist cruise company, Bare Necessities, and helps plan two cruises each year, including the Big Nude Boat, which sets sail in February, and a smaller cruise in the summer.

Kat has been a full-time employee at Bare Necessities since 2010, having been first introduced to nude cruises in 1997 through a modelling gig.

Intrigued, she went on to volunteer as general staff for more than a decade - helping answer questions and making sure guests kept a towel between themselves and their seats - before later joining on a full-time basis.

As a cruise organiser, she helps create schedules for staff and passengers, assists in operating the nighttime dance club smoothly and performs 'dinner duty' - ensuring guests comply with the dress code in a formal setting.

Now based in Austin, Texas, Kat has lifted the lid on what it's really like to work among hundreds of naked guests - and the surprising rules they must strictly abide by.

In a first-person piece for Business Insider, she highlighted one particularly important rule: asking for permission.

She wrote: 'The most important one is that you have to ask permission before taking a photo with someone else in it.'

She added: 'Men can't be overly excited. We say that if they start to feel things around moving down there, jump in cold water, or think about baseball.'

Guests are expected to wear clothing when having dinner in the formal dining room - though this is mainly to avoid the risk of burning while waitstaff carry around trays of hot food.

While dining, guests must ensure none of their 'n*ps, bits and butts' are on display, and clothing made of materials such as mesh and string are prohibited.

The captain and crew are clothed at all times, which Kat says often shocks guests when they first arrive on the ship, though they eventually warm up to the dynamic.

On the company's biggest and most popular cruise, the Big Nude Boat, over 2,100 naked passengers - 70 per cent being repeat guests - unite for costume parties and themed nights on the high seas.

Recalling one of the most impressive costumes she has seen, Kat described how one man arrived to a party dressed as a tequila bottle - with his head resembling the cork, his body, the bottle, and the worm being something too inappropriate to reveal.

Meanwhile, a man who stripped off and set sail on the UK's only naked cruise has revealed what goes on during the three-hour annual trip - and the strict rule that all passengers must abide by.

Journalist Ben Endley bared it all as he set sail on a double-decker ship along the River Exe in Devon.

In a revelation that will leave some shocked, the first-timer told how the event was not attended by swingers or the sex-obsessed but rather those keen to experience the sense of freedom that comes with baring all.

What's more is that there's a rule in place for those who 'misbehave' - they will be banned from future trips, according to the organisers of the double-decker 'Nude Cruise', which tours the River Exe.

Ben, who was on board the Nude Cruise, described it as 'remarkably normal' and not dissimilar from a boat trip 'organised by a local village church group' in The Sun.

And now, in its 13th year, the outing hasn't strayed from its organiser's original promise of creating a 'safe environment' for all participants.
